1. Information We Collect

Information you give us: your name, email address, and message when you use our contact form; your name, contact details, appointment information, and payment information when you schedule a consultation; your login credentials, messages, and documents when you use the client portal; and information you share by phone, email, or text. If you are a legal plan member, such as a MetLife Legal Plans participant, we may collect your plan and eligibility information.

Information collected automatically: like most websites, we collect device and usage information such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring links, using cookies and similar technologies. We may use third-party analytics services to help us understand how visitors use the site. If we do, those providers may collect this information directly and set their own cookies.

Information from others: we may receive information from people who refer you to us, from legal plan administrators verifying eligibility, and from public records.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to respond to inquiries, schedule and conduct consultations, run conflict checks, provide legal services, process payments, operate and secure the website and client portal, send administrative and, with your consent, marketing communications, improve our services, and comply with legal and professional obligations.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only with: service providers who help us operate, such as website hosting, scheduling, payment processing, e-signature, cloud storage, and secure generative AI tools used for drafting and research under confidentiality safeguards; legal plan administrators, to verify membership and administer plan benefits; advertising partners, as described in Section 4; and courts, regulators, or others when the law, court order, or our professional rules require or permit it. Payment card transactions are handled by our payment processor; we do not store complete card numbers on our systems.

4. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising

We may work with advertising partners who use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies on our site to show you ads for our services on other websites and platforms. This is often called retargeting or interest-based advertising. Some state privacy laws treat this as "sharing" personal information for targeted advertising, and you have the right to opt out.

You can opt out of interest-based advertising by adjusting your browser or device settings to block third-party cookies, through industry tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance at aboutads.info/choices, or by emailing us at george@blackmore.law. We will honor opt-out requests as applicable law requires. The site will still work with most cookies disabled, though some features may be limited. Our website does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals.

5. Text Messaging

If you give us your mobile number, we may text you about your appointments or matter. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out of texts.

6. Security and Breach Notification

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No website or system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach affects your unencrypted personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law, including the Michigan Identity Theft Protection Act.

7. How Long We Keep Information

We keep information as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, to comply with legal and professional obligations, and to resolve disputes. Client files are retained and destroyed as described in our engagement terms. Website inquiry and analytics data are kept for shorter periods appropriate to their purpose.

8. Your Choices and Rights

You may opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link, and out of texts by replying STOP. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and to opt out of the sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising as described in Section 4. We will honor verifiable requests as applicable law requires, and we will not discriminate against you for making one. To make a request, email george@blackmore.law. Note that we may need to keep certain information to meet our legal and professional obligations, including conflict-checking records.

9. Children

This website is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Visitors From Outside the United States

This website is operated from the United States and is intended for a United States audience. If you visit from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States.

11. Important Reminder for Prospective Clients

Submitting information through this website does not create an attorney-client relationship. Please do not send confidential details about your legal matter until we have confirmed the engagement in writing.

12. Changes and Contact
